PHILLIPS COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (PCCF)

Providing for the Future of Phillips County

MISSION STATEMENT

The Phillips County Community Foundation is a local organization that serves as a steward for private assets entrusted to us by donors. We are committed to building a permanent endowment fund which can serve as a community savings account for future generations. We strive to fund worthy projects in Phillips County that are respective of the trust and intent of our donors, while maintaining integrity and responsiveness as a community foundation.

What is the Phillips County Community Foundation:

Established in 1998, the Phillips County Community Foundation (PCCF) is a permanent endowment fund affiliated with the Montana Community Foundation. The PCCF was established to attract endowment gifts for Phillips County. Individuals, families, businesses, private foundations, charitable trusts and organizations can make gifts to this permanent pool of endowed principal. Earnings of the endowment are used to fund worthy projects in Phillips County.

The PC Community Foundation helps donors target charitable giving at home by building a permanent endowment or community savings account to:

  • enhance our rural way of life,
  • meet the cultural and economic needs of the community in a positive and practical way, and
  • pay dividends in perpetuity to address community priorities

The fund's earnings can assist in meeting the communities needs in a broad range of areas-Grants can be considered in five categories: arts & cultural; basic human needs; economic development; education; and natural resource & conservation.

HOW IT WORKS:

As a local affiliate of the Montana Community Foundation, we are entitled to be a part of their 501 C(3) IRS tax exempt status. The Montana Community Foundation exercises fiscal oversight, fund accounting, record keeping and reporting and investment management for the Phillips County Community Foundation. Locally, we have the responsibility to solicit and grant funds. The Phillips County Community Foundation has its own advisory board which will oversee funds raised. All distributions will come from fund earnings (but not the principal) and granted in Phillips County for purposes determined by the local advisory board, or in some cases, by the wishes of the donor.

HOW CAN I GIVE?

Gifts to the Phillips County Community Foundation (PCCF) can be done in many ways. Cash, stocks, bonds, life insurance policies or property are several examples. For many people, a gift through a will is a practical choice.

Gifts of any amount are welcome -combined, they strengthen the endowment and build the amount of earnings available. A gift offered in memory of a family member or friend, or in honor of a significant occasion is a thoughtful remembrance.

Gifts to PCCF are tax deductible. Planned gifts may qualify for Montana tax credits. Donors are encouraged to consult an attorney or tax consultant for information on individual and estate planning needs.
